My Boy

Photobucket

Nineteen years ago today, my bug loving, non-sleeping, trick playing, kind hearted, coyote hunting, fearless, blond haired, brown eyed, gentle, free spirited, snuggle-bug boy was born. I watched Gus grow from an energetic baby to a proud Marine. I am so proud of my son. It is truly a pleasure to be his mother.

I wanted to write a nice tribute to him, but I couldn't seem to find the words. So I asked google for help and this is what I found. These are the lyrics to a song written by Mike Batt. It is called Run Like The Wind. I searched for it on YouTube because I wanted to hear it. There was only one video to choose from, and to be honest, I didn't like it at all. But the lyrics speak to me. It is as if they were written for my free spirited son.

Run Like The Wind

There's an eagle in the eastern sky, turning in the wind;
Out across the evening, resting on the wing.
If I had the wings of an eagle
There'd be no holding me
I'd be free
Sailing free.

One day soon I'm gonna run like the wind,
One day soon
Gonna break away from everything
One day soon
Nothing in the world's gonna pull me back
And nothing's gonna keep me in
Gonna run like the wind.

And if you should tell me you want to hold me down,
Before the glow of morning, I'll be gone without a sound.
The more you try to keep me in
The less you will succeed
Sailing free,
Sailing free.

One day soon I'm gonna run like the wind,
One day soon
Gonna break away from everything
One day soon
Nothing in the world's gonna pull me back
And nothing's gonna keep me in
Gonna run like the wind.

One day soon I'm gonna run like the wind,
One day soon
Gonna break away from everything
One day soon
Nothing in the world's gonna pull me back
And nothing's gonna keep me in
Gonna run like the wind

Happy Birthday Gus.

Happy Birthday to Gus!

I will forever remember his as a little dude .... with a lizard on Ryan's back ... and also with an orange peel out in the desert. He is so fun!
